Creation is where God lives and speaks. In the bible, God often called leaders out into his creation and into wilderness places with the sole purpose of revealing more of himself and more of who he was calling them to be. Much of Jesus’ ministry occurred in an outdoor setting and it is where he often took his disciples to prepare them for ministry in the world.
Consider the possibilities. What might happen? What could happen? What if you stepped into God’s creation with the intention of encountering a Holy God, expecting to hear from God about who he is and who he says you are? The possibilities are beyond all we can ask or imagine when it comes to what God can and wants to do in you and through you. Why wait?
Studies show that being outside reduces blood pressure, improves cardiovascular and metabolic health, boosts the immune system, and lowers blood sugar. Spending time in creation also improves energy, reduces stress, increases creativity and problem solving, as well as lifts depression. Just as important is the spiritual benefit of the body/mind connection. When you combine movement with spiritual mindfulness and reflection, the benefits impact your physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
