Practice Leave No Trace

Stewardship of creation was God’s idea! In Genesis 1:28 God says “fill the earth and subdue it” or “rule over it.” The Hebrew word for subdue/rule communicates the idea of “correct rule” or actively caring for and sustaining creation in a way that brings shalom, peace or wholeness. It’s our responsibility!

The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics provides proven, research-based solutions for the protection of the natural world through 7 principles that outline best practices when it comes being responsible consumers of the created world.

Whenever you step into the front or back country, packing using the Ten Essentials is a starting point when it comes to what goes in your pack. The Mountaineer Ten Essentials list was put together in the 1930s by The Mountaineers who provided a list of necessary items to help people be better prepared for emergency situations in the outdoors.

Today’s list has evolved into more of a systems approach but will help you determine what to bring and why it might be important depending on your adventure!
