Beginning at Woody Gap, hike 1 mile north on the Appalachian Trail to Preacher’s Rock for breath-taking views! After returning back to the trailhead on the same trail, consider the option to continue south on the AT 1 mile to Ramrock Mountain for more views, finishing up back at Woody Gap.
Hike 2 miles through an assortment of hardwoods in the Sumter National Forest to reach a powerful and mighty section of the Chattooga River. After some time on the beach or nearby rocks, continue hiking another .25 miles on a more vegetative path to reach the impressive 50-foot Opossum Creek Falls.
Located in the Raven Cliffs Wilderness, Cowrock Mountain is a short .85 mile hike up from Tesnatee Gap and provides stunning views of area peaks. Continue traveling 1 mile west on the Appalachian Trail to reach Wolf Laurel Top, a popular camping site and summit with fantastic views. Finish up the hike by returning back to the Testnatee Gap trailhead.
